Video of Dr. Chris Martenson’s Analysis of DRASTIC Lab-Engineered-COVID-19 Evidence Stream

Video Description

Do you believe you deserve to know if the SARS-CoV-2 virus that has upended the world, and your life, for the past 20 months was made by humans?  I know I deserve to know that, as does everyone.  Well, the field of that battle just got a little bit clearer.

A leaked document shows that in 2018 the EcoHealth alliance had pitched DARPA to fund a huge amount of work on bat coronaviruses including mixing and matching the most dangerous elements of them (so-calledchimeric virus assemblies) as well as identifying and inserting the best human furin cleavage sites in them to increase pathogenicity.  All of this work was to be done in collaboration with the Wuhan Institute of Virology up to and including paying a significant portion of “the bat lady’s” salary.

DARPA declined to fund this work over obvious concerns.  No matter, this same work was funded by the NIH,which also, for unknown reasons, by-passed the usual institutional oversight governing such dangerous work.

So far the media is stone silent on this matter.  We hope this video is allowed to stand on YouTube, as it is presenting facts and drawing some very obvious conclusions.  However, it will also be embarrassing to certain layers of bureaucracy, so we all know the risks here.  The emperor would very much like to continue believing he’s wearing a fine set of garments. We are in the final moments of that old narrative being contained.  People are waking up.  The good news is that you can always join our completely uncensored conversations by becoming a member at Peak Prosperity.  Just click this link:  https://mailchi.mp/peakprosperity.com/youtube28

EcoHealth Alliance, DARPA, D.R.A.S.T.I.C. and the ‘Furin Cleavage Site’— Dr. Chris Martenson Breaks it Down

Dr. Chis Martensen has been following the so-called ’Lab-Leak theory since COVID-19 mysteriously surfaced. He’s paid attention to the ebb and flow and observed as co-opted and compromised scientists tried to debunk the Lab-Leak theory — including the man accused of helping to manipulate and create the virus in a lab, Peter Daszak. Martensen deconstructs DRASTIC’s powerful revelations of collusion between Anthony Fauci’s NIAID, the EcoHealth Alliance and the Wuhan Institute of Virology to develop COVID-19 using Gain of Function technology in this riveting presentation.

Virologist Geert Vanden Bossche, A Voice Calling Out in the Wilderness

Virologist Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche if nothing else has been consistent. He has for more than a year been calling on the CDC, WHO, NIH, and all the of the alphabet soup health overseer organizations to cease mass vaccinations immediately. Vanden Bossche maintains that mass vaccinations in the midst of a pandemic with “leaky” vaccines creates more infectious variants. Speaking out early on in the mass vaccination has earned him scorn, rebukes from colleagues and banishment from mainstream discourse. Which has prompted him to take to his website and take on his detractors and to make his case. Along the way, he has picked a lot of supporters from people averse to taking the jab as well as those of us searching for answers and clarity amongst all the conflicting and confusing information.

Given that he is a career scientist and virologist, the idea that he is an anti-vaxxer by the very definition of his profession is nonsensical. He is a proponent of vaccines but is challenging the mass vaccination protocol itself; suggesting that that protocol will not end the pandemic but will only facilitate the spread of the virus with more infectious variants. Recently he has been vocal against the notion that the inability of reaching herd immunity rests with the unvaccinated and he is staunchly against any form of one faction blaming the other. Frankly, he’s been a breath of fresh air for those of us looking for unity and balance.

Just as he did in the very earliest stages of the pandemic, Vanden Bossche has written an open letter to the WHO. Other than the ubiquitous Fact Checkers and a few colleagues, he’s been ignored by the scientific academy — not because his hypothesis lacks merit, but because it does, and many of his colleagues have intimated that to him privately but fear for their careers should they say so publicly. Here’s his open letter. In fact, check out his entire website. He’s also been featured in a number of Youtube videos explaining his hypothesis and has been paying copious attention to those countries with high vaccination rates such as Israel and the UK.

D.R.A.S.T.I.C. COVID Lab-Origin Story Gets Crickets, No Traction in Media

I’ve been a student of mass media since I was 15 years old. I’ve always been fascinated by it. So it should come as no surprise that I spent the lion’s share of my career in some form or another working in or alongside mass media practitioners. Print and TV reporters, radio and TV and online publications. I think I learned a thing or two along the way. One aspect of the news business that I learned during my tenure is what makes for a good news story. First and foremost — controversy. Drama, conflict, emotion, death, calamity, destruction, they are all part and parcel to a ‘good’ hard news story.

Which brings me to the DRASTIC coronavirus lab-leak story. Now, let’s unpack the newsworthiness of the DRASTIC COVID lab-engineered/leaked documents story. But before we do that, let’s look at a similar sensational news story. The recent Pandora Papers revelations, the biggest data leak of offshore financial secrets of the super rich and powerful ever uncovered. It was covered extensively by media. Washington Post, New York Times, Reuters, CNN, AP, Bloomberg, and many others reported on this. Why? It’s newsworthy. It has all the ingredients media outlets look for in a story. Controversy, drama, mystery and this case, dirt on the greedy!

The DRASTIC story on the other hand drew — Crickets! Why? For those who don’t know D.R.A.S.T.I.C. or Decentralized Radical Autonomous Search Team Investigating COVID-19 is a team of private citizen-journalists and investigators who coalesced around Twitter and began piecing together the puzzle of where the coronavirus or SARS CoV-2 originated. Using leaked documents from whistleblowers and plain old fashioned investigative due diligence, DRASTIC has amassed a treasure cove of emails and documents and credible evidence pointing to a lab-engineered origin of SARS CoV-2. Seeing that SARS CoV-2 has killed more than four million people worldwide and 700,000 Americans, one would think that reporters would be champing at the bit to outdo each other with yet another iteration of this sensational story. Not only the death and destruction visited on so many innocent souls, but the destruction of whole nations’ economies and disruption of the continuity of life itself. To make matters worst, the DRASTIC investigation points to American universities and American scientists working under the cover of scientific research, and in violation of international law to make an animal virus more pathogenic, more infectious and able to penetrate human cells to infect human beings. Talk about a news story that not only has a national impact, but an international impact.  You can’t get no more sensational or newsworthy than that. And yet …Crickets. One story got plenty of play, the other none!

You would think Congress and governors and the people whose charter is to protect human life would be up in arms over this. Where’s Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats? Where’s Mitch McConnell and the Republicans? Since taking office, President Joe Biden ordered an investigation into the origins of COVID-19. Well, Mr. President, what say you? And an even better question is where’s the Washington Post, where’s the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, and of course all of the talking heads on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, 60 Minutes, and the like. Where are they? Surely they know about this story lurking under the radar. What are they waiting for? For that matter, what does the scientific community have to say about all of this? The whole academy may suffer irreparable damage from this, should a fraction of this be true. Maybe that’s why it’s being covered up?

Peter Daszak of the EcoHealth Alliance

Just look at this. And this is just one entry, just some of the allegations:

French translation (before updates) @ France Soir.

  • Researchers say there’s evidence within the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein that suggests the virus is a product of genetic manipulation.
  • Exiled Chinese scientist Li-Meng Yan says SARS-CoV-2 is an “unrestricted bioweapon” and there’s been “large-scale, organised scientific fraud”.
  • Six miners in Yunnan, who were removing bat faeces from a cave, suffered a severe pneumonia-like illness in 2012 and three of them died. They had a high fever, dry cough, sore limbs, and headaches – all symptoms associated with Covid-19.
  • A database containing information about the sequencing of samples collected from the Yunnan mine by researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology has been taken offline.
  • There are said to be sequences of HIV-1 in the SARS-CoV-2 genome.
  • American and Chinese scientists have collaborated for decades on gain-of-function research.
  • There have been numerous ‘leaks’ of viruses from laboratories, including during the SARS outbreak in 2003–2004.
  • WHO team says lab origin ‘extremely unlikely’.
  • An international group of scientists has called for a “full and unrestricted international forensic investigation into the origins of Covid-19”.

This is just one snippet of the evidence DRASTIC is amassing! And yet, no media, no congressional inquiries, no public outcry. 4,845,889 dead worldwide, 700,000 Americans, dead. Credible evidence pointing toward specific people and organizations — specifically, Peter Daszak of the EcoAlliance, Ralph Baric, nanotechnology expert working in concert with the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and none other than Anthony Fauci, who is accused of financing the Gain of Function research. American citizens they are, monkeying around in bat caves and labs, and taking bat viruses, making them more infectious, aerosolizing them and helping them make the ”jump” to human beings. All of these allegations are consistent to what Dr. David Martin asserted coming out of his analysis of 4,000 coronavirus patents. Despite the powder keg allegations Martin alleged, no mainstream media outlet would come anywhere near him. Why? Could it be the same reason why Francis Boyle is persona non grata? Boyle, who crafted the Anti-Biological Weapons Act, has gone on record as early as February of 2020 sayings SARS CoV-2 is a man-made and the product of biological warfare.

Ralph Baric (Megan May/UNC Research)

We are currently dealing with an unprecedented catastrophe, and no one is even giving this information the time of day. No one trying to debunk this evidence, even if it can be debunked. Speaks volumes about the Fourth Estate, the academy of professional journalists expected to protect us from tryranny of the few. History will not be kind!

I Don’t Wear a MAGA Hat! But When it Comes to Forced Vaccinations & Vaccine Passports I Stand in Solidarity with Anyone Against Medical Tyranny

I do not wear a MAGA hat. I do not support Donald Trump. I do not participate in overrunning the US Capitol. And in all fairness, neither do all Trump supporters. I do not appreciate Trump’s politics, his manner of speech, his propensity to demean his detractors, his race-baiting, or his policies in general. I am the complete antithesis of Donald Trump and the vast majority of his politics. No offense to those who do support Trump. To each his or her own. This is a Democracy. People can choose their politics as they damn well please. What I do take exception to and what infuriates me is the notion that ANYONE averse to COVID-19 vaccines is somehow or another some ‘right-wing’ fringe nut. Or an “Anti-Vaxxer” or “anti-science.” I’m a left-leaning so-called liberal/progressive Super Voter who has never voted for a Republican candidate in my entire adult life. And not because the Democrats are any better. Their rhetoric is more palatable. They whisper sweet nothings in your ear while producing nothing in the form of meaningful legislation that mirrors their rhetoric. But I have even less respect for the Republican Party. However, putting all of the that aside, our illustrious mass media conglomerates and their perpetual talking heads have sold us all a bill of goods that purports that coronavirus pro-vaccine enthusiasts and anti-vaccine proponents are neatly categorized on the left and right wing of the political spectrum. NOT!

Through MSNBC and CNN on the left and Fox News on the right, each one them have played the American people like a fiddle! Everyone knows ANYONE who exercises caution or is outright hostile toward having an unproven and rushed “vaccine” injected into their bodies HAVE to be Anti-Vaxxers, right? No matter how many previous vaccinations they and their children have had. “Us versus Them” works like a charm. And the elites, the owners of those media juggernauts, are laughing all the way to the bank. They’ve snookered just about everyone. Here’s where I draw the line in the sand. No, I will NOT allow my government to force unwanted vaccines on me. No neatly contrived political cookie cutter narrative, where all the players are placed in well-defined demarcation, is going to hoodwink me. This is where I stand in solidarity with people who support Trump and people who support Biden and people who support neither of them! I stand in total solidarity with anyone — white, black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian, Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Liberal, Moderate, LGBGTQ, Straight, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheists — I stand arm in arm with anyone against Censorship, anyone against forced vaccinations, anyone against vaccine passports, anyone against government usurping the Constitution of the United States, and anyone against any law, edict or policy, government or corporate that would give the power of the State or a corporation control over my body or anyone else’s body. And I want to appeal to all people of all races and all political ideologies — WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER!!! We can break ranks and argue and disparage one another over politics and policies until the cows come home, but when it comes to giving in to medical tyranny, giving in to the plutocrats, the powerful wealthy elites, the Thought Police who would censor and enslave us by taking away our basic human rights, I say no. HELL NO!!!!

I Smell a Rat! Is This Legit or Another False Flag?

I watched with keen interest the 60 Minutes interview of Frances Haugen this past Sunday. Frances Haugen is an ex Facebook executive “whistleblower” who has come out to criticize Facebook for allegedly knowingly having algorithms in place that foster or facilitate hate speech among Facebook users. She says Facebook executives know that these algorithms play to division but that Facebook values profits over people. I kept watching to hear when I’d get some red meat — and I’m still waiting. I’ve yet to hear anything remotely like a smoking gun. Anything that would place any more blame on Facebook than many other conveyors of division. Do I believe Facebook plays to whatever will keep people posting, reading, using their platform? Yes. But name me one mass media outlet that doesn’t. I’ll wait. Fox News certainly plays the divisive us versus them blame game. And so does CNN and MSNBC. Major newspapers like the Washington Post, New York Times, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, and the like, are not going to shut down their respective comment sections because readers of different and contrasting views go at each other. That’s one of the elements that keeps them reading! While one can argue that social media exacerbates division in this country, the raw division we all witness nowadays did not begin and certainly won’t end with Facebook or social media’s demise.

From CBS’ 60 Minutes website: [“Facebook’s harm, Haugen said, also extends to Facebook’s Instagram app. One internal study Haugen referenced in her 60 Minutes interview said 13.5% of teen girls shared that Instagram makes thoughts of suicide worse. And 17% of teen girls stated in the study that Instagram makes eating disorders worse. “As these young women begin to consume this eating disorder content, they get more and more depressed,” Frances Haugen said to 60 Minutes. “And it actually makes them use the app more. And so, they end up in this feedback cycle where they hate their bodies more and more.”] Huh? How? What is it about Facebook/ Instagram that would make young impressionable girls consider suicide more or develop an eating disorder? Is it appreciably more than the TV commercials featuring perfect-looking people, or any worse than some of the sick TV program content and series on commercial TV?

Which brings me to my ‘healthy paranoia.” I have been very outspoken against the censorship Facebook and other social media giants have been deploying since the mysterious appearance of COVID-19. And Facebook’s “Community Standards” policy has been all over the place and lacks any semblance of continuity and/or clarity. Despite my criticism of Facebook, I do not agree with any attempt to control the wide-sweeping dialogue that takes place on their platform. And I find it curious and noteworthy that only weeks after the most powerful figure in the world accused Facebook of facilitating the deaths of people because it won’t apply even more censorship of its users that all of a sudden this so-called “whistleblower” surfaces — with suspect and overblown accusations I might add. Facebook, despite its shortcomings, is under intense pressures from all sides of the political spectrum. They are in a can’t win situation and just about everyone is pissed at them. The president to the United States doesn’t think they censor enough while complaints about their censoring heavy-handedness abound. They got politicians on both sides of the aisle in Washington champing at the bit to break them up into pieces. And much of it has been self-inflicted. But this appears to be a take-down, conjured-up subterfuge rooted in further control of Facebook’s content. And it don’t pass the smell test! Incidentally, their stock is down as much as six percent today.

Holocaust Survivors Call on International Criminal Court to Bring COVID Pandemic Perpetrators to Justice

Have to fess up that I never liked Alex Jones. I always considered him a buffoon and a clownish carnival barker, never to be taken serious, but more akin to the consummate conspiracy theorist’s version of pro wrestling-like bluster and self-promotion. That’s certainly how many people continue to view Jones. Fast forward to the Brave New World of COVID-19 wherein a lapdog and co-opted mainstream media is nowhere to be found by those of us desperately searching for answers; Nowhere to be found for truth-seekers looking for investigative journalism and perceptive news analysis. Enter Alex Jones. Yes, the carnival barker himself. Contrary to his reputation for bluster, overstatement and hyperbole, Mr. Jones may have redeemed himself with me. My jaw dropped when I stumbled across an excellent and comprehensive video presentation by a Dr. Richard Fleming on Brandnewtube.com when I discovered that this presentation was presented on none other than Alex Jones’ ‘InfoWars’ show, an online platform I normally would not be caught dead giving a moment of my time to. But such is the state of current affairs when the Military Industrial Media Pharma Complex have so commandeered COVID information that anyone thirsty for clarity and truth will take it anywhere they can get it. Dr. Richard Fleming appeared on Jones’ show and gave a superb textbook presentation on COVID-19, on the cadre of vaccines, the supposed efficacies of the vaccines, the underreporting of adverse reactions, underreporting of vaccine injuries, the very revealing and otherwise substandard data they presented to the FDA for securing the Emergency Use Authorization. And most jaw-dropping was Fleming adding his voice to the growing chorus of people calling for the heads of Anthony Fauci, Ralph Baric, Peter Daszak and others for creating the “bioweapon” SARS CoV-2. Yes, he went there.

Screen shot of Holocaust Survivors’ letter to ICC, taken from Dr. Richard Fleming’s presentation

A powerful moment in Dr. Fleming scorched earth presentation was a letter he presented written, signed and hand-delivered by three living survivors of the Nazi Holocaust. The letter, delivered to the ICC, the International Criminal Court, is demanding that the perpetrators behind the SARS CoV-2 Pandemic be brought to justice. Most prominent on Fleming’s preliminary list of suspects is Anthony Fauci, Ralph Baric, nanotechnology expert who allegedly helped to develop the lab-engineered virus at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and Peter Daszak of the EcoHealth Alliance who allegedly contracted the Gain of Function lab work to China’s Wuhan BSL-4 laboratory. Also listed to be taken before the ICC is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. You may recall that Dr. David Martin several months ago presented evidence to attorney Reiner Fuellmich documenting in excruciating detail the timeline of Coronavirus Patents that were filed and the cadre of people and pharmaceutical companies all intertwined in the development of SARS CoV2. Including the CDC! Dr. Fleming and David Martin aren’t the only ones alleging that SARS CoV-2 is the product of biological warfare, engineered in a lab. Attorney Francis Boyle, who drafted the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989 (BWATA) has spoken out several times and stated in no uncertain terms that SARS CoV2 is the offspring of a bioweapon. Fleming is calling for a Nuremberg 2.0 Trial.

Are Government Round-ups of Resistors in Our Future? John Whitehead Ponders

Sometimes you run across a treatise that’s written so perfectly that it needs no emphasis or embellishments. John Whitehead consistently delivers thought provoking pieces. This one is no different. I’m providing both a link to his site as well as his commentary.

By John W. Whitehead & Nisha Whitehead September 28, 2021

No doubt concentration camps were a means, a menace used to keep order.”—Albert Speer, Nuremberg Trials

John Whitehead

It’s no longer a question of whether the government will lock up Americans for defying its mandates but when.

This is what we know: the government has the means, the muscle and the motivation to detain individuals who resist its orders and do not comply with its mandates in a vast array of prisons, detention centers, and FEMA concentration camps paid for with taxpayer dollars.

It’s just a matter of time.

It no longer matters what the hot-button issue might be (vaccine mandates, immigration, gun rights, abortion, same-sex marriage, healthcare, criticizing the government, protesting election results, etc.) or which party is wielding its power like a hammer.

The groundwork has already been laid.

Under the indefinite detention provision of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the President and the military can detain and imprison American citizens with no access to friends, family or the courts if the government believes them to be a terrorist.

So it should come as no surprise that merely criticizing the government or objecting to a COVID-19 vaccinecould get you labeled as a terrorist.

After all, it doesn’t take much to be considered a terrorist anymore, especially given that the government likes to use the words “anti-government,” “extremist” and “terrorist” interchangeably.

For instance, the Department of Homeland Security broadly defines extremists as individuals, military veterans and groups “that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely.”

Military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan may also be characterized as extremists and potential domestic terrorist threats by the government because they may be “disgruntled, disillusioned or suffering from the psychological effects of war.”

Indeed, if you believe in and exercise your rights under the Constitution (namely, your right to speak freely, worship freely, associate with like-minded individuals who share your political views, criticize the government, own a weapon, demand a warrant before being questioned or searched, or any other activity viewed as potentially anti-government, racist, bigoted, anarchic or sovereign), you could be at the top of the government’s terrorism watch list.

Moreover, as a New York Times editorial warns, you may be an anti-government extremist (a.k.a. domestic terrorist) in the eyes of the police if you are afraid that the government is plotting to confiscate your firearms, if you believe the economy is about to collapse and the government will soon declare martial law, or if you display an unusual number of political and/or ideological bumper stickers on your car.

According to the FBI, you might also be classified as a domestic terrorism threat if you espouse conspiracy theories or dare to subscribe to any views that are contrary to the government’s.

The government also has a growing list—shared with fusion centers and law enforcement agencies—of ideologies, behaviors, affiliations and other characteristics that could flag someone as suspicious and result in their being labeled potential enemies of the state.

This is what happens when you not only put the power to determine who is a potential danger in the hands of government agencies, the courts and the police but also give those agencies liberal authority to lock individuals up for perceived wrongs.

It’s a system just begging to be abused by power-hungry bureaucrats desperate to retain their power at all costs.

It’s happened before.

As history shows, the U.S. government is not averse to locking up its own citizens for its own purposes.

One need only go back to the 1940s, when the federal government proclaimed that Japanese-Americans, labeled potential dissidents, could be put in concentration (a.k.a. internment) camps based only upon their ethnic origin, to see the lengths the federal government will go to in order to maintain “order” in the homeland.

The U.S. Supreme Court validated the detention program in Korematsu v. US (1944), concluding that the government’s need to ensure the safety of the country trumped personal liberties.

Although that Korematsu decision was never formally overturned, Chief Justice Roberts opined in Trump v. Hawaii (2018) that “the forcible relocation of U. S. citizens to concentration camps, solely and explicitly on the basis of race, is objectively unlawful and outside the scope of Presidential authority.”

Roberts’ statements provide little assurance of safety in light of the government’s tendency to sidestep the rule of law when it suits its purposes. Pointing out that such blatantly illegal detentions could happen again—with the blessing of the courts—Justice Scalia once warned, “In times of war, the laws fall silent.”

In fact, the creation of detention camps domestically has long been part of the government’s budget and operations, falling under the jurisdiction of FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

FEMA’s murky history dates back to the 1970s, when President Carter created it by way of an executive order merging many of the government’s disaster relief agencies into one large agency.

During the 1980s, however, reports began to surface of secret military-type training exercises carried out by FEMA and the Department of Defense. Code named Rex-84, 34 federal agencies, including the CIA and the Secret Service, were trained on how to deal with domestic civil unrest.

FEMA’s role in creating top-secret American internment camps is well-documented.

But be careful who you share this information with: it turns out that voicing concerns about the existence of FEMA detention camps is among the growing list of opinions and activities which may make a federal agent or government official think you’re an extremist (a.k.a. terrorist), or sympathetic to terrorist activities, and thus qualify you for indefinite detention under the NDAA. Also included in that list of “dangerous” viewpoints are advocating states’ rights, believing the state to be unnecessary or undesirable, “conspiracy theorizing,” concern about alleged FEMA camps, opposition to war, organizing for “economic justice,” frustration with “mainstream ideologies,” opposition to abortion, opposition to globalization, and ammunition stockpiling.

Now if you’re going to have internment camps on American soil, someone has to build them.

Thus, in 2006, it was announced that Kellogg Brown and Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, had been awarded a $385 million contract to build American detention facilities. Although the government and Halliburton were not forthcoming about where or when these domestic detention centers would be built, they rationalized the need for them in case of “an emergency influx of immigrants, or to support the rapid development of new programs” in the event of other emergencies such as “natural disasters.”

Of course, these detention camps will have to be used for anyone viewed as a threat to the government, and that includes political dissidents.

So it’s no coincidence that the U.S. government has, since the 1980s, acquired and maintained, without warrant or court order, a database of names and information on Americans considered to be threats to the nation.

As Salon reports, this database, reportedly dubbed “Main Core,” is to be used by the Army and FEMA in times of national emergency or under martial law to locate and round up Americans seen as threats to national security. There are at least 8 million Americans in the Main Core database.

Fast forward to 2009, when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released two reports, one on “Rightwing Extremism,” which broadly defines rightwing extremists as individuals and groups “that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely,” and one on “Leftwing Extremism,” which labeled environmental and animal rights activist groups as extremists.

Incredibly, both reports use the words terrorist and extremist interchangeably.

That same year, the DHS launched Operation Vigilant Eagle, which calls for surveillance of military veterans returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other far-flung places, characterizing them as extremists and potential domestic terrorist threats because they may be “disgruntled, disillusioned or suffering from the psychological effects of war.”

These reports indicate that for the government, so-called extremism is not a partisan matter. Anyone seen as opposing the government—whether they’re Left, Right or somewhere in between—is a target, which brings us back, full circle, to the question of whether the government will exercise the power it claims to possess to detain anyone perceived as a threat, i.e., anyone critical of the government.

The short answer is: yes.

The longer answer is more complicated.

Despite what some may think, the Constitution is no magical incantation against government wrongdoing. Indeed, it’s only as effective as those who abide by it.

However, without courts willing to uphold the Constitution’s provisions when government officials disregard it and a citizenry knowledgeable enough to be outraged when those provisions are undermined, it provides little to no protection against SWAT team raids, domestic surveillance, police shootings of unarmed citizens, indefinite detentions, and the like.

Frankly, the courts and the police have meshed in their thinking to such an extent that anything goes when it’s done in the name of national security, crime fighting and terrorism.

Consequently, America no longer operates under a system of justice characterized by due process, an assumption of innocence, probable cause and clear prohibitions on government overreach and police abuse. Instead, our courts of justice have been transformed into courts of order, advocating for the government’s interests, rather than championing the rights of the citizenry, as enshrined in the Constitution.

We seem to be coming full circle on many fronts.

Consider that two decades ago we were debating whether non-citizens—for example, so-called enemy combatants being held at Guantanamo Bay and Muslim-Americans rounded up in the wake of 9/11—were entitled to protections under the Constitution, specifically as they relate to indefinite detention. Americans weren’t overly concerned about the rights of non-citizens then, and now we’re the ones in the unenviable position of being targeted for indefinite detention by our own government.

Similarly, most Americans weren’t unduly concerned when the U.S. Supreme Court gave Arizona police officers the green light to stop, search and question anyone—ostensibly those fitting a particular racial profile—they suspect might be an illegal immigrant. A decade later, the cops largely have carte blanche authority to stop any individual, citizen and non-citizen alike, they suspect might be doing something illegal (mind you, in this age of overcriminalization, that could be anything from feeding the birds to growing exotic orchids).

Likewise, you still have a sizeable portion of the population today unconcerned about the government’s practice of spying on Americans, having been brainwashed into believing that if you’re not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.

It will only be a matter of time before they learn the hard way that in a police state, it doesn’t matter who you are or how righteous you claim to be, because eventually, you will be lumped in with everyone else and everything you do will be “wrong” and suspect.

Indeed, it’s happening already, with police relying on surveillance software such as ShadowDragon to watch people’s social media and other website activity, whether or not they suspected of a crime, and potentially use it against them when the need arises.

It turns out that we are Soylent Green, being cannibalized by a government greedily looking to squeeze every last drop out of us.

The 1973 film Soylent Green, starring Charlton Heston and Edward G. Robinson, is set in 2022 in an overpopulated, polluted, starving New York City whose inhabitants depend on synthetic foods manufactured by the Soylent Corporation for survival.

Heston plays a policeman investigating a murder who discovers the grisly truth about the primary ingredient in the wafer, Soylent Green, which is the principal source of nourishment for a starved population. “It’s people. Soylent Green is made out of people,” declares Heston’s character. “They’re making our food out of people. Next thing they’ll be breeding us like cattle for food.”

Oh, how right he was.

Soylent Green is indeed people or, in our case, Soylent Green is our own personal data, repossessed, repackaged and used by corporations and the government to entrap us in prisons of our own making.

Without constitutional protections in place to guard against encroachments on our rights when power, technology and militaristic governance converge, it won’t be long before we find ourselves, much like Edward G. Robinson’s character in Soylent Green, looking back on the past with longing, back to an age where we could speak to whom we wanted, buy what we wanted, think what we wanted, and go where we wanted without those thoughts, words and movements being tracked, processed and stored by corporate giants such as Google, sold to government agencies such as the NSA and CIA, and used against us by militarized police with their army of futuristic technologies.

We’re not quite there yet, but as I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, that moment of reckoning is getting closer by the minute.
